During the 2nd Global Department Store Summit, the title of ‘Department Store of the Year’ will be awarded to a world class performer and innovator. This Award is intended to recognize a truly outstanding performance that has been acknowledged by industry peers. All CEOs of the department store industry and suppliers have been invited to propose the department store which they consider to be the world’s leading one, based on the following criteria:
- An enviable profile (clear store brand, differentiated positioning, powerful messaging and communications)
- Successful developments and executions of product, store and service innovation strategies (innovative extension of merchandise in its categories, development of the store formula and service offer)
- Delivery of an outstanding in-store experience
- Provision of excellent customer service
- Strong financial performance (based on sales and EBIT growth in 2009, a positive trend in results over the previous two years and the outlook for 2010)
A jury of four highly recognized and seasoned retail executives – Award Jury – was mandated to analyze the responses of the poll conducted in April 2010 and to identify the three finalists.
